(KMOV) – Mehlville School District in south St. Louis County was selected by Riverview Gardens school officials as being the transfer school for those students wishing to be bused.

News 4 talked with Mehlville Superintendent Dr. Eric Knost moments after he found out they’d been chosen.

He says there are some serious concerns knowing that class sizes are already higher than what is preferred by state standards.

School officials will be crunching numbers to see how many students they can actually take in.

“I don’t think it’s going to be significant numbers. I informed Riverview when they called me I don’t think we can accommodate thousands of students. We can’t accommodate hundreds of students,” Dr. Knost said.

School officials say they will not allow the quality of education to become impacted by this change.
