Jerseyville schools make more cuts, laying off 11 teachers and 2 staff members

(KMOV.com) -- For the fourth time this week a Metro-East school district is laying off teachers.

The Jerseyville School Board voted to cut 11 teachers, one administrator and one full time educational support member.

There are also 12 staff members retiring who will not be replaced.

The district faces a $2.7 million dollar deficit.

The Granite City School District and two others in Belleville are also laying off teachers.
