(KMOV) Illinois Senator Dick Durbin attended a roundtable discussion Wednesday working on ways to control guns and cut down on violence in the streets of Illinois.

Durbin said ‘the bottom line is we need to keep guns out of the hands of people who have no business owning them.”

St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly says his office is working closely with Federal prosecutors to get ‘the most bang for their buck’ in prosecuting gun crimes.

Durbin says when the Senate reconvenes after the Easter break, it will they will begin  considering several gun violence bills.
