PORTLAND, Or. (KMOV) -   A nasty prank left a Girl Scout troop on the hook for about $24,000 worth of cookies.

An order was placed online for 6,000 boxes of cookies. The order turned out to be a hoax, leaving the scouts with an extra 6,000 boxes.

When people learned of the story, they lined up to help the troop out. About half of the cookies were sold over the weekend.

The troop hopes to sell the other half this coming weekend.
