(KMOV) – Police said they have found an 11-month-old girl who was kidnapped by her father from a St. Louis County apartment on Wednesday.

According to police, 23-year-old Brian Grant was holding a gun when he kicked in the front door of an apartment in the 2600 block of Vanity Fair around 9 a.m.

Police said Grant then forced the child and the girl’s 21-year-old mother into his tan Ford Explorer.

Police said the mother jumped out of the vehicle near the intersection of Jennings Station and Hord in Jennings after the suspect said he would kill her.

She was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert as they searched the area for the father and the girl, who was later identified as Demi Grant.

She was later found safe near the intersection of Union and St. Louis Ave. in north St. Louis. Police said Brian Grant’s vehicle was found abandoned, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Police said they were actively searching the area for him.

Authorities said Grant has brown eyes, black hair and weighs about 145 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact St. Louis County Police at (314) 889-2341.
