ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A huge police presence was seen outside of a local movie theatre, but it was all for a good cause.
The St. Louis Police Wives Association brought departments from all around the metro together to see "Heroes Behind the Badge."
The documentary, played Wednesday night at Ronnie's in south St. Louis County, featured stories about officers who survived shootings and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The film's creator is a retired Miami-Dade police officer, who made the movie in honor of the friends he's lost.
"It's a very heavy film. It's very real and raw and powerful, but we wanted it to be that way to send a message," Executive Producer Bill Erfurth said, “We wanted to educate the public and perhaps change some perceptions about the sacrficies that go on within the job.”
