(KMOV.com) -- Thousands of Boy Scouts around the St. Louis area volunteered Saturday to help the hungry.
It was pickup day for the annual Scouting for Food Drive.
Scouts dropped off a plastic bag at resident’s doors last weekend and picked them up full of canned and non-perishable food items Saturday.
All donations will be distributed to hungry families in the bi-state region.
“It feels really nice, it’s like people are being really generous,” said scout David Borgmeyer, “It makes you feel good to see people being generous and be a part of helping the community.”
So far 2.1 million food items have been collected and Boy Scout officials said they are still counting into Saturday night.
