(KMOV.com) -- Parents of students at a Metro East high school are scared for their children’s safety after a report of a sexual assault at the school.
Belleville East High School was rocked by allegations against a 17-year-old student of sexual assault Friday.
Police aren’t releasing details of what happened, but the situation was serious enough to arrest the student.
The alleged sexual assault was reported to have happened on campus during the school day between the suspect and a female student.
The victim had to be interviewed at the hospital where she was being treated.
Parents were informed Friday night, and have been contacting administrators about concerns of a repeat incident.
District leaders wouldn’t answer questions on camera Monday, but the superintendent says the alleged sexual assault was an isolated incident, and the district is taking proactive steps to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again.
Additional safety measures are also being considered.
