CHESTERFIELD, Mo (KMOV.com) -- In what appears to be a case of either theft or bad record keeping but Chesterfield police have been called in to find out what happened to a large quantity of gold dust.
It went missing at the Pfizer facilities in the 700 block of Chesterfield Parkway West.
The gold dust is used in small amounts for experiments conducted in Pfizer’s labs. According to police it was kept in an unlocked cabinet but used infrequently. When workers recently went to get some for an experiment the gold dust was gone.
Workers told police the gold dust could have been stolen or used without proper record keeping somewhere between November 2011 and the end of November of 2012. Police say workers were unsure how much gold dust was kept in the cabinet but estimate it was as much as $700,000 worth.
