20-year-old man dies after fall in Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE, Il (KMOV.com) -- The Madison County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a 20-year-old Chesterfield man.

Michael Heney was at a residence on Southcrest Circle in Edwardsville Monday night when he reportedly fell and hit his head around 10 p.m.. According to police, Heney was standing near the back door of the home when he fell on the porch. It’s unknown what caused the fall.

He was taken by his friends to Anderson Express Medical Center in Glen Carbon, but they discovered it was closed. They then called 911. When emergency workers arrived they found Heney unresponsive and CPR was being administered.

He was taken to Anderson Hospital where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor just before 11 p.m..

Edwardsville police are investigating Heney’s death and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
