LINCOLN COUNTY, Missouri (KMOV.com) – Several lanes of Highway 61 were closed after a tanker truck carrying 8,000 gallons of denatured alcohol overturned in Lincoln County on Wednesday.
According to Barry Nuss with Lincoln County Fire, the southbound lanes of Hwy. 61 were closed as crews worked to clear the accident near Creech Lane. All lanes have since reopened.
Nuss said the driver of the truck was trapped in the cab of the truck, but was freed by emergency workers. That driver was airlifted to an area hospital in serious condition.
Authorities did not say if any other vehicles were involved. It is not known what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.
