(KMOV) – While construction on the northbound lanes of Interstate 270 between I-44 and Gravois is almost complete, the Missouri Department of Transportation warns that the second leg of the project could send many drivers searching for detours.
MoDOT says construction on southbound I-270 will have a much greater regional impact, and backups on southbound I-270 will mean backups on I-64.
Crews will do the same type of work on the southbound lanes of I-270 as they did for the northbound lanes. There will be narrower lanes, and a work zone speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
MoDOT says drivers who use I-64, Manchester or Dougherty Ferry can expect to see a change in traffic patterns.
That work will begin after July 4, and MoDOT says drivers should begin thinking about alternate routes.
