ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Rainy weather did not interfere with MoDOT's plans to reopen lanes on westbound Interstate 64 on Sunday evening.
All eastbound lanes of the roadway between Jefferson and the Poplar Street Bridge were opened for traffic around 8 p.m.
MoDOT officials said they were worried heavy precipitation would impact the opening, but crews were able to replace concrete before the rain started.
I-64 construction has been a source of frustration for drivers, especially during the morning and evening rushes.
Crews will resume work on westbound I-64 on Wednesday, but officials said lane closures will be less frequent.
MoDOT officials said the repairs will continue for a few more weeks, and all work on the roadway should be complete by the new year.
