MADISON COUNTY

I-55 Beginning the week of Monday, October 24th, the West Frontage Road will be closed from Livingston Avenue in Livingston to Lindenbroker Road near Illinois Route 4. This road closure is necessary to complete needed bridge repairs. Work should be completed by Friday, November 4, 2011.


I-55 The left southbound lane will be closed on I-55 from the Macoupin County Line (mile marker 39) near Staunton to Alhambra Road (mile marker 35), near Livingston. The right northbound lane will also be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge (mile marker 37). These lane closures are necessary to repair various bridges within the area. Work should be completed by October 31, 2011.


I-55 Lane restrictions will be encountered along both northbound and southbound I-55 between mile markers 20 and 32. Lane closures will be utilized to completely rehabilitate the existing interstate pavement. No lane closures will take place during the peak hours of 6 AM and 9 AM southbound or between 3 PM and 6 PM northbound. This work is estimated to be completed by December, 2011.


I-55 Lane restrictions will be encountered along both northbound and southbound I-55 between mile markers 33 and 40. Lane closures will be utilized to repair the damaged pavement, place new asphalt surface, and various bridge resurfacing. No lane closures will take place during the peak hours of 6 AM and 9 AM southbound or between 3 PM and 6 PM northbound. Work is estimated to be completed by late Fall, 2011.


I-55/70 Lane restrictions will be encountered on I-55/70 from 1.3 miles east of IL 157 in Collinsville to just west of U.S. 40 in Troy. These lane restrictions are needed to install communication and surveillance devices as part of the Intelligent Transportation System. Work is estimated to be completed by the winter of 2011, weather permitting.

I-55/70 @ Rehabilitation of the interchange of I-55/70 and IL Rte. 162 near Troy. The
IL 162 project will be utilized for the removal of the existing bridge at the interchange, construction of a new bridge, and a single-point interchange to increase the fluid movement of traffic through this area. In addition, the existing frontage roads will be relocated, new traffic signals will be added, and the installation of new lighting will accommodate the entire interchange reconstruction project. Intermittent lane restrictions will be encountered on both I-55/70 and on IL Rte. 162 during construction. Work on the project is estimated to be completed by late summer, 2012.


I-70 There will be eastbound and westbound lane closures on Interstate 70, two miles west of IL 4. These closures are necessary to repair expansion joints in the pavement. It is estimated that these project activities will be completed by November 15, 2011.


I-270 @IL 3 The ramp from westbound I-270 to northbound IL Rte. 3 is closed. This closure is necessary to install a right turn lane for northbound IL 3. Work is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2011. A marked three ramp detour will be installed to access eastbound I-270.


US 67/IL 143 Lane restrictions will be encountered along U.S. 67 / Illinois 143 just west and east of the Clark Bridge. All work should be completed by November 23, 2011, weather permitting. These lane restrictions are needed to complete a new turn lane onto the Clark Bridge. All eastbound and westbound lanes leading onto the bridge will remain open between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M.


U.S. 67/267 The speed limit is reduced to 45 mpg. along U.S. 67 from Delhi to Godfrey. This reduction is necessary to assure the safety of the workers and traveling public during construction of the new 4-lane divided rural expressway and will remain in place until Fall 2012. Additionally, intermittent lane restrictions may be encountered throughout the project limits. Two-way traffic will be maintained by flaggers.


IL 143 There will be lane closures on IL Route 143. These closures are necesssary to place asphalt safety shoulders around the curves on the highway. It is estimated that these project activities will be completed by November 30, 2011.


IL 159 Lane closures will be utilized on IL 159 from north of South Morrison Avenue to north of Church Street in Collinsville to widen and resurface the existing roadway. Two-way traffic will be maintained using flaggers and traffic control devices. Work is estimated to be completed by the Fall of 2012.

IL 162
Lane restrictions will be encountered on IL 162 from just east of IL 203 in Granite City to IL 111 in Pontoon Beach. These lane restrictions are needed to repair and resurface the roadway. Work is estimated to be completed by the fall of 2011, weather permitting. 

IL 162 Rehabilitation of the interchange of I-55/70 and IL Rte. 162 near Troy. The project consists of the removal of the existing bridge at the interchange, construction of a new bridge, and a single-point interchange to increase the fluid movement of traffic through this area. In addition, the existing frontage roads will be relocated, new traffic signals will be added, and the installation of new lighting will accommodate the entire interchange reconstruction project. Intermittent lane restrictions will be encountered on both IL 162 and on I-55/70 during construction. Work on the project is estimated to be completed by mid-summer, 2012.

Madison Av Lane closures may be encountered in South Roxana from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the intersection of Madison Avenue at Hedge Road, west of Illinois Route 255. Construction activities are anticipated to be completed by October 28, 2011. The lane closures are needed to construct intersection improvements and traffic signals.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY

I-64 Westbound I-64 will be reduced to one lane between 18th Street and 10th Street in East St. Louis beginning at 7:00 pm Monday, October 24, 2011 until 6:00 am the following morning, weather permitting. In addition, eastbound I-64 will be reduced to one lane between 18th Street and 10th Street starting at 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2011 until 6:00 am the following morning. These lane restrictions are necessary to set a sign truss over I-64. Motorists should also expect 15 minute closures while the sign truss is being set over traffic lanes.


I-64 Construction began on I-64. Lane closures will be utilized on both eastbound and westbound I-64 to clean and paint the bridge carrying IL Route 4 over I-64. Work is estimated to be completed by the winter of 2011.


I-64 The exit ramp from westbound I-64 onto 25th Street is closed to all traffic. In addition, westbound I-64 traffic lanes will be changed in order to move to stage 3 construction. One of the two westbound lanes will use the newly constructed inside westbound lane and the other westbound lane will utilize the constructed cross-over using an eastbound lane as a westbound lane. Westbound lanes and the eastbound lane will be separated by temporary concrete barrier. These traffic changes are necessary in order to replace the bridge deck carrying I-64 over the MetroLink Railroad. These lane modifications will be in effect until late Fall, 2011. In addition, the contractor may periodically close an additional lane in each direction between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. during off peak hours.


I-64 Lane restrictions will be encountered along northbound and southbound IL 159 from Ludwig Drive to Market Place Drive in Fairview Heights. In addition, the ramp lanes at the IL 159 and I-64 interchange will be narrowed to allow the pavement to be patched. This work is related to a larger project which includes widening the bridge carrying IL 159 over I-64, constructing a new entrance ramp from southbound IL 159 to eastbound I-64 and resurfacing. The project is expected to be completed by November 30, 2011. In addition, lane closures will occur on eastbound and westbound I-64 for widening the bridge and constructing the new ramp.


I-64 Lane restrictions may be encountered along eastbound and westbound I-64 between Baugh Avenue and 37th Street in East St. Louis. I-64 will be reduced to two lanes of traffic in each direction in order to replace the bridge deck carrying I-64 over the MetroLink Railroad. These lane restrictions will be in effect until Summer, 2012. In addition, the contractor may periodically close an additional lane in each direction between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. during off-peak hours.


U.S. 50 There will be lane closures on Old U.S. 50 from U.S. 50 near Summerfield to just west of Carlyle. These lane closures are necessary to replace pavement, widen pavement, resurface, and perform guardrail improvements. It is estimated that these project activities will be completed by October 31, 2011.


IL 3 IL 3 will be completely closed to traffic near Dupo at the Union Pacific Railroad and Prairie DuPont Canal overpass. This road closure is required for complete removal and replacement of the structure and to resurface the approaches. It is anticipated that the work will be completed in two years.


IL 13 IL 13 is reduced to one lane with traffic being controlled by traffic signals. This closure is necesssary to repair expansion joints on the bridge and to repair the bridge approaches. It is estimated that this project will be completed by July 31, 2012.


IL 13/15 There will be lane closures on IL 13/15 from Green Mount Road to .25 miles west of Green Mount Road. Lane closures will be utilized to construct intersection improvements. Work is estimated to be completed by the fall of 2011.

IL 159 Lane restrictions will be encountered along northbound and southbound IL 159 from Ludwig Drive to Market Place Drive in Fairview Heights. In addition, the ramp lanes at the IL 159 and I-64 interchange will be narrowed to allow the pavement to be patched. Lincoln Lane closures will be encountered on Lincoln Trail / St. Clair Avenue from east of
Trail IL 159 in Fairview Heights to 33rd Street in East St. Louis, weather permitting. The lane closures are needed to repair the pavement, repair the curb and gutter and resurface the existing roadway. Lane closures from IL 159 to Ruby Lane will only be allowed at night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. the following morning. This work is estimated to be completed by late fall, 2011.


15th St. 15th Street is closed to vehicular traffic from St. Clair Avenue to Baugh Avenue in East St. Louis. This closure is necessary to remove and reconstruct the bridge carrying 15th Street over I-64. All traffic will be detoured around this area using St. Clair Avenue, 18th Street, Baugh Avenue and 9th Street. Work is expected to be completed by November, 2011.

BOND COUNTY

I-70 Intermittent moving daytime lane closures will be encountered on eastbound and westbound Interstate 70, one mile west of Millersburg Road to the Fayette County line. These lane closures are necessary to apply new pavement markings. Work should be completed by October 31, 2011.

CLINTON COUNTY

U.S. 50 There will be lane closures on U.S. Route 50. These closures are necesssary to patch and overlay the concrete surface with asphalt and to replace guardrail. It is estimated that these project activities will be completed by November 21, 2011.


Old U.S. 50 There will be lane closures on Old U.S. 50 from U.S. 50 near Summerfield to just west of Carlyle. These lane closures are necessary to replace pavement, widen pavement, resurface and perform guardrail improvements. It is estimated that these project activities will be completed by October 31, 2011.


IL 127 Lane closures will occur on IL 127 from the Washington County Line to U.S. 50 in Carlyle. These lane closures will be necessary to complete pavement patching and resurfacing and guardrail improvements. Work should be completed by November 9, 2011. At least one of the two lanes will remain open at all times.
