(AP/KMOV.com) -- The Illinois and Missouri Departments of Transportation say they will limit road work this weekend to make it easier and safer for families traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.
In Illinois, starting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, IDOT plans to suspect all non-emergency road work on highways and state roads. The work will not resume until midnight on Sunday. Many roads will still have a few lanes closed, though. IDOT said work zone speed limits are still in effect even if no construction workers are present.
In Missouri, starting at Noon on Wednesday, MoDOT will suspend road projects on interstates and Missouri state highways. Some crews may still be out working in some areas, so drivers are urged to be cautious and follow construction zone speed limits. MoDOT will resume work at 9 a.m. on Monday.
