ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Multiple lanes on Interstate 70 were closed for nearly two hours Wednesday morning following a multi-vehicle accident that left one driver with serious injuries.

St. Louis County Police officials said three vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Lucas and Hunt Road just after 9 a.m.

Authorities said a driver in a Jeep was traveling down an on-ramp when they got to the bottom an spun out.  The wet road has been blamed for the accident.

When the driver of the Jeep spun out, a flatbed tow truck struck the Jeep on the side. A third vehicle's involvement is said to have been minor.

Emergency personnel responded and took the driver of the tow truck to an area hospital. The driver's injuries are considered serious.

Authorities did not say if anyone else was seriously injured during the crash.

Traffic on I-70 was at a near standstill while crews cleared the wreckage. It took emergency crews nearly two hours to get everything cleaned up.

All lanes have on the interstate have since reopened.
