ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- All lanes of a section of northbound Interstate 55 were shut down for a couple hours on Tuesday due to a fuel spill from a tank on the side of a tractor trailer.
According to MoDOT, the ruptured tank leaked 130 gallons of diesel fuel over a half mile on I-55 just past Park Avenue.
The interstate was closed near downtown, causing lengthy delays while crews cleaned up the mess.
In a separate incident, two people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle wrecked near the scene of the fuel spill.
The cause of that wreck is unknown.
