ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Drivers could face traffic delays for the second straight week, as I-DOT closes lanes on the Chain of Rocks Canal Bridge for construction.
I-DOT crews will close all but one eastbound lane of the bridge for two weeks starting Monday. Once that construction is completed, I-DOT will then close one westbound lane for the next week.
Last Thursday, a construction issue on the Chain of Rocks Bridge caused a major traffic backup for morning commuters.
Rather than only close the lanes during the regular workday, crews will work on the bridge continuously. I-DOT officials say this approach will help crews finish the work faster.
I-DOT is urging motorists to leave extra time for their commute or take alternate routes if possible.
Construction work on the Chain of Rocks Canal Bridge is expected to last three weeks.
