ST. CHARLES COUNTY (KMOV.com Staff) -- Changes are coming for drivers who use the Blanchette Bridge in St. Charles County.
This time next week rush hour will move much slower as MoDOT crews close one lane on each side of the bridge.
The closure will last for three weeks as crews prepare for a full shut down on the westbound side, starting in November.
They’ll build temporary pavement in the median to use while the shutdown is in effect for close to a year.
“For this three weeks that we have one lane closed in each direction it should not be a huge traffic impact but it’s a good time for people to start thinking about other ways around,” said MoDot engineer Tom Evers.
MoDOT will close the lanes from the Fifth Street exit to the earth city expressway starting late Friday night.
