MEHLVILLE, Mo. (KMOV) – A string of accidents involving nine vehicles closed multiple lanes of Interstate 255 in south St. Louis County on Monday.

 

Officials said four vehicles wrecked on eastbound I-255 near Lemay Ferry Road around 8:40 a.m.

Authorities said that accident caused three other vehicles to crash.

Officials said two other vehicles then wrecked trying to avoid the second accident.

The interstate was shut down from Lemay Ferry Rd. to Interstate 55 for about an hour as crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes have since reopened.

One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the wreck was not immediately known.
