ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Lanes of Interstate 64/Highway 40 are now reopened in downtown St. Louis after crews closed several lanes for construction.

Commuters traveling eastbound on I-64 into downtown were led on a detour to southbound I-44 as crews had the Jefferson exit as the last opition on I-64.

“The good news is starting next week we will be moving off the westbound direction so currently where we have that barrier placed in westbound direction, we will be doing removal of that barrier and placing it on the eastbound for the next phase of the project,” Deanna Venker, a MoDOT official, said.

The entire project, which started in the spring, is expected to be completed by November.
