(KMOV -)- Police are searching for a suspect after an elderly Alorton, Illinois man is found shot to death in his home.

Authorities say Joseph Mister, 69, was shot in the chest at 5^th and Missouri.

Family members contacted police after Mister didn’t show up at church.

Mister is the uncle of former East St. Louis Police Chief James Mister.

Family members say Mister was known to carry large amounts of cash on him.
