The Maplwood Fire Department has lost a dear friend and family member, 22-year-old Paramedic/Firefighter Ryan Hummert was mortally wounded as he exited the Maplewood fire truck after it arrived to the scene of a call for a car fire.

Ryan began his career with the City of Maplewood in August 2007.

Ryan graduated paramedic school in August 2007 and the St. Louis County Fire Academy in March 2008.

Ryan was a 2004 graduate of Rockwood Summit High School.

Ryan was the son of former Mayor Andy Hummert and Jackie Hummert.

He will be deeply missed!
