A marine task force unit was conducting a training exercise when debris in the water caused two boats to collide into each other.

One firefighter was thrown into the water. The two injured firefighters were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

One Fire Department boat was seriously damaged.

Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson said the St. Louis Fire Department responds to incidents on the Mississippi River an average of four or five times a week, making training exercises a very important procedure.
