Protestors take to streets to stop sale of Anheuser-Busch

11:05 AM CDT on Monday, June 16, 2008

St. Louis (KMOV) -- Protesters are trying to stop the sale of St. Louis' hometown brewery Anheuser-Busch after InBev, a Belgium based brewery, offered $46 billion to buy the company earlier last week.

A few dozen protestors walked from Al Hrabosky's Ballpark Saloon to Busch Stadium on Saturday afternoon handing out signs, collecting signatures on petitions and begging Anheuser-Busch shareholders to consider more than money when deciding whether to sell.

The protestors said the InBev offer is bad for St. Louis and the United States.

So far, two protest Web sites, SaveBudweiser.com and SaveAB.com, have collected more than 70,000 signatures from people who want Anheuser-Busch to stay an American-based company.
