Previous story: Parents question their daughter's mysterious death in Iraq
St. Louis, MO (KMOV) - A north St. Louis County father is still searching for the truth in the death of his daughter in Iraq.
News 4 has been following this story of Private Lavena Johnson for almost two years now, and spoke to her parents about how they're taking their case to congress.
Private Lavena Johnson
Dr. John Johnson is still convinced his daughter was murdered, and now Johnson is getting his chance to tell his story to members of congress who now are holding hearings on the war in Iraq.
Johnson's daughter, Lavena Johnson, 19 was found dead in a tent in Iraq in 2005.
The military determined her death was a suicide.
Johnson has had his daughter's body exhumed and has obtained military documents and records that seem to indicate his daughters death was anything but suicide.
Johnson will get to tell his story on Wednesday in Washington as congress investigates the war in Iraq.
Johnson will meet with key members and staff of several congressional committees with the help of retired army Colonel Ann Wright who is a 29 year military veteran who is now an anti-war speaker and author.
Wednesday, Johnson will meet some members of congress who will at least listen as he visits Capitol Hill.
There is also an online petition that closes next week, which calls on the house and senate armed services committees to investigate the death of Private Johnson.
Right now, that petition has 12,000 names on it.
