St. Louis, MO (KMOV) - A St Louis area college student was hit by a car near a popular spring break location in Florida.
The same thing happened to another area college student near the same spot less than a year ago.
Early Wednesday morning, Mizzou senior, Michael Maniaci was hit by a driver while crossing the street, and is now in critical condition.
Police say Maniaci left a bar, and walked back to his hotel when he was struck by the vehicle.
Maniaci suffered massive head trauma.
A police spokesman in Panama City beach says Maniaci may have also suffered a broken leg.
Investigators say by all accounts this was an accident, and it appears no charges will be filed against the 20 year old female driver who struck him.
News 4 is told that Maniaci was a popular student who excelled on the volleyball court and in the classroom.
