(KMOV) - Falling sleet, freezing rain and rising winds took their toll on more than just the roads. The combination of weather conditions involved with this storm left hundreds of thousands of St. Louisians in the dark.
Due to trees and power lines freezing over or falling and there are thousands throughout the area without power. The majority of those without power are in the Metro East. To see Ameren's power outage map, Click here.
Ameren is reporting that 336,000 customers are still without power. Ameren crews are out repairing the downed lines, but like everyone else, getting around town is a problem right now. Ameren officials say they have every available crew in the area at work and are bringing in crews from all over the country.
Ameren officials say it is too early to give an estimate as to when power will be restored to customers. They say it could be 4-5 days or longer.
Officials said this is the worst ice storm in Ameren's history.
