(KMOV) – St. Louis is getting a new Busch Stadium, and in the place of the old ballpark is planned the Ballpark Village.

HOK renderings of the planned Ballpark Village.

Rip Rasmus, a Senior VP at the HOK architectural firm says this project is rolling right along with development along Clark Street set to be in place by opening day 2008.

Rasmus says that what HOK and the Cardinals are working to build is a new downtown neighborhood with 1,000 units of housing and more than 360,000 square feet of retail space.

The village will occupy the land where the “old” Busch Stadium presently sits.

Living space will come in the form of two high-rise apartment buildings. Some of those apartments could have spectacular views of the ball field in the new Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals have agreed at the ambitious project as part of the agreement with the city to build the new stadium.

I want the guys tickets in section 439. If he isn't going...I will.

The terrible storm on July 19th showed the serious flaws in this stadium's design.

The stainless steel railing table tops are going to be HOT HOT HOT this summer...it looks neat but your drink gets warm really fast and on the sunny Saturday we were there it burned your arm :(

After a few years everyone will get used to the new stadium

I've been to 14 other ballparks and this stadium to me looks like it's just acombination of a lot of the new stadiums so when I've noticed nothing unique about the stadium

To all you people who do nothing but complain about the stadium, GET A LIFE!!!! This is a beaufiful stadium that was built almost entirely with PRIVATE money, only the 2nd ballpark in the country to do so. This stadium and team generates millions of dollars for downtown, what little public maney was used is well worth it. As far as the food prices, the Cardinals let you bring in your own food and drinks. As far as parking, use metolink or buses, plus if you do a little research you can find cheap parking downtown. If you don't like the stadium, don't go. Real Cardinals fan do not want you there. GO CARDS !!!
