(KMOV) -- A teen has been charged for shooting another teen in Kirkwood's Meachem Park last Wednesday.

Police have charged 17-year-old Dyanthany Proudie with Assault 2^nd and Armed Criminal Action.

Proudie open fired in the middle of the street and hit a teen in the neck just before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Alsobrook and Orleans Streets.

Police say a group of men with the injured teen jumped into a car after the shooting and took off to a nearby house.

A Kirkwood police officer knew the people who lived there, which helped officers talk the group out of the house after about an hour and a half.

The injured teen was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The men who were holed-up in the house were taken to the Kirkwood police station for questioning.

The police chief tells News 4 he didn't know how many shots were fired.  

No one else in the group was hurt.

The chief says quick action by neighbors helped get this situation under control.

Proudie is being held on $100,000 bond at the St Louis County Justice Center.
