Head-on crash kills 2 SW Missouri teens
10:51 AM CST on Thursday, November 27, 2008
NEVADA, Mo. (AP) -- Two southwest Missouri teenagers are dead after a pickup truck passing another vehicle slammed head-on into their truck.
The Highway Patrol said the crash Wednesday night killed 17-year-old Martin Corey and his 15-year-old passenger Emily Debrine, both of Nevada. Both teens were pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. 54, six miles west of Nevada.
Troopers say the driver of the other truck, 74-year-old Gale Pelser of Eldridge, was not seriously injured.
A Highway Patrol report said Pelser's eastbound truck hit the teens' westbound vehicle at around 7:40 p.m. Troopers said Pelser was wearing a seat belt, but neither of the teens was buckled up.
