McCaskill, Jackie Joyner-Kersee attend rally

St. Louis (KMOV) -- The clock is ticking. With little more than two weeks left until Election Day, presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain are playing a game of tug-of-war for Missouri and its 11 electoral votes.
But if recent polls are any indicator of which way Missouri will go, Obama might be pulling the Show-Me state onto his side. Public Policy Polling out of North Carolina released a survey Tuesday showing Obama with a two percent lead over John McCain. This comes after McCain’s ten-point lead in Missouri in late August.
At Obama’s “Change We Need” rally today on the Arch grounds, Senator Claire McCaskill said to ensure Missouri as a victory for the Democratic Party, Obama supporters must translate their enthusiasm into action.
“I think it’s going to depend on all of the people out there that believe in Barack Obama deciding to get off the couch and do everything they can in the next two weeks,” said McCaskill.
Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee agreed.
“You know, you’ve got to go to the poll and vote,” she said. “You want to see a change? In order for a change to happen, you’ve got to go and vote.”
Joyner-Kersee says Obama is the commander-in-chief that America needs, and that the current economic crisis exemplifies why America needs change. “Right now we are in some very trying times economically,” she said. “And we’ve got to really see a change not only in our community but in our nation.”
“It doesn’t make any sense to select someone for President who’s going to do the exact same thing that got us into this mess in the first place,” said McCaskill. “People just need to think about their pocketbooks.”
