KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- A Kirksville woman has been charged with eight counts of perjury after prosecutors say her rape claims landed two innocent men behind bars for eight months.
Adair County's prosecutor says 18-year-old Earlene Rogers is charged with lying to a grand jury four times in two separate depositions. Last year she accused 35-year-old Glen Johnson and 30-year-old Timothy Rogers of rape and forcible sodomy. Both men spent eight months in jail before being released in February.
Johnson said he feels cheated because he had to be away from his children for eight months.
Earlene Rogers was being held at Adair County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bond. She had been scheduled to be arraigned this week, but that was pushed back until early June because she didn't have a lawyer.
