NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

A 12-year-old boy who drowned Saturday evening at a North County apartment complex pool has been identified.

Authorities said Terrance Green of the 200 block of Becker Drive in St. Louis was swimming in a pool with friends and family, all 13 years of age and under,  when the accident occurred.

The incident occurred at the Lucas Hunt Village apartments around 6:40 p.m. Police said the 12-year-old went underwater in the deep end of the pool.

After being alerted by other children at the pool, a woman rescued the boy from the water. The woman began performing CPR shortly afterward, according to police.

The boy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Family and friends of Green are planning a special vigil to honor his life on Thursday.

The incident is being investigated by the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
