WOOD RIVER (KMOV.com) -

A man from Wood River, Ill. was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and domestic battery on Tuesday, July 3.

Wood River Police responded to a disturbance call at a house on Colonial Dr. in Wood River on June 29.

Police were told that Snead committed battery to his live-in boyfriend. Snead was allegedly upset with a small Dachshund puppy at the house and was holding it under running water. The incident with the dog led to the domestic battery to the victim, according to police officials.

Officers said the victim had minor injuries and the dog was lethargic. The dog was taken to an animal hospital for treatment and Snead was taken into custody.

The case was presented to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. Snead's bond was set at $40,000.
