Tornado touches down Thursday, tears roof off building

The National Weather Service has confirmed a brief tornado touched down Thursday evening near Elsah, IL.  

An EF0 tornado briefly tore through a 1.4 mile stretch just north of Elsah, Illinois with estimated winds of 80 mph.  The tornado touched down around 5:10 p.m. and lasted only 2 minutes.  The tornado removed the roof from an out building, twisted a road sign and snapped trees at their base.

The National Weather Service (NWS) damage survey team found that other damage across parts of Jersey county in Illinois, St. Charles County, Northern St. Louis County, western Madison county in Illinois and Western St. Clair County in Illinois was due to straight-line wind damage.
