ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden took to the streets in the Kingsway West neighborhood to stick to his commitment to the community.

The police chief recently made a promise to be more active in high crime communities. With help from his mobile office, Hayden committed to bringing other resources to each area he visits.

“Today I also brought the people with Slate with me. We're not just making arrests, we're trying to meet people's needs,” said Hayden.

Hayden plans to continue visiting neighborhoods around the city this summer while more residents are out of school.

After the success of foot patrols on Cherokee Street in South St. Louis, Hayden told News 4 that he has ordered the program to be expanded to almost every district in the city.
