Potential evidence in Hedden case found by fishermen in Macoupin County

GILLESPIE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Possible evidence related to the disappearance of a Macoupin County woman has been sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for processing.

According to the Macoupin County Sheriff, on Sunday fishermen at Gillespie Lake found articles of evidence that could be related to the disappearance of Denita Hedden, who has been missing since January. A day after the discovery, multiple agencies, including the Gillespie Police Department and the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department conducted a land and water search but no additional potential evidence was found.

The sheriff’s department has not elaborated what the possible evidence is but did tell News 4 the lead detective on the Hedden case had been provided an update.

Hedden was last seen at a St. Louis casino the day she disappeared.
