(Meredith) — Your favorite blonde lawyer is coming back!
Reese Witherspoon, who played Elle Woods in the 2001 movie "Legally Blonde" and subsequent sequel in 2003, confirmed Thursday that she will be playing Elle in "Legally Blonde 3."
"It's true," Witherspoon wrote in her caption of a video on Twitter of herself wearing a pink bikini, floating in a pool as a nod to her character.
MGM Studios confirmed the release date for "Legally Blonde 3" on Twitter: Valentine's Day 2020.
The "Legally Blonde" franchise followed the ever-positive Elle Woods as she pursued a law degree at Harvard University and then later a career in politics.
It's unclear what the plot line will be for the upcoming movie, but previously Witherspoon has discussed a potential White House bid for Elle.
"I think it'd be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court Justice or somebody who runs for office, like president," Witherspoon said during a podcast in 2015.
Entertainment Weekly reports original writers of "Legally Blonde" Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith are writing the script for the upcoming film.
