JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Jefferson County has passed an emergency provision to keep county government open.

The move comes several days after a conflict over a budget amendment that was passed over the County Executive’s Ken Waller’s veto.

Auditor Richard Carter III resigned after the amendment was passed saying it would result in an unbalanced budget. In his resignation letter, Carter II was concerned that the budget was not legal.

County Counselor Tony Dorset announced his resignation a day later.

The county council met Friday evening to address the situation.
