LEBANON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A Missouri father is facing a gut-wrenching loss after a fire killed five children.

Kelley Hunt is the father of three of the child victims killed in Wednesday's fire in Lebanon.

The other two children were his niece and nephew.

“I lost my family. Not just my kids, but my niece and nephew and most likely my sister-in-law who means a lot to me," he said.

Hunt’s sister-in-law was in the home during the fire and suffered serious injuries.

Hunt says he's been grappling with guilt due to the fact he went into work early that morning and wasn’t home.

He says he couldn't call off because he was taking his kids to Silver Dollar City this weekend for the first time.

Hunt was also getting ready to buy a new home and needed the money.

“It was a surprise for the kids,” he said. “I told them last month to start going through the house and looking for all the change they could find and give it to daddy so we could buy a new house. $40 ain't going to get a place, but we were going to put that with what we had and tell them they did a good job, all the money they saved got us a new house."
