ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- The Cardinals' disabled list added a new name Friday, with lefty Tyler Lyons being placed on the 10-day DL.

The team cited a sprain in his pitching elbow, and the move is retroactive to June 6. To replace Lyons in the bullpen, the Cardinals recalled righty Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis.

Lyons was on the disabled list for most of May with a back injury and has struggled in 2018 to the tune of a 5.93 ERA in 22 appearances.

Mayers will be making his sixth trip to the bigs on the year, having just been options on June 5.

Mayers, 26, is 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA in 12 appearances (15.2 IP) for the Cardinals this season.  He posted a 3.0- inning save on April 12 at Cincinnati, the first save of his Major League career.
