Pedal the Cause cyclist now fighting his own battle with cancer

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A Pedal the Cause cyclist who has helped raise thousands of dollars is now fighting his own battle with cancer.

Nick Porter was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in December 2017. He then underwent surgery to remove the tumors from his colon.

“The good news is I’m cancer free in the colon,” said Porter. “But, now I’ve got it in my liver.”

In January, Porter started chemotherapy to help in the fight against the cancer. He expects to take his last round of chemotherapy on July 16.

Porter, plans to continue the fight against cancer through Pedal the Cause on Team Keeley, especially after his own battle.

“It’s just all come full circle for me. It’s got a lot more meaning to me this year than past years but it’s always been meaningful,” he said.

Team Keeley has raised more than $265,000.

“Everything goes to cancer research. Every single penny of it,” said Porter. “And they won’t stop, and we won’t stop, until we find a cure for all these diseases,” said Porter.
