WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Wentzville is hosting a scavenger hunt of 12 artistic fire hydrants placed throughout the city’s historic downtown district.

The hydrants were painted by Wentzville School District seniors as part of the annual Water Division scholarship contest.

The theme for this year’s contest was “superheroes.” Three participating seniors from Holt, Liberty and Timberland high schools were awarded $1,000 scholarships. It is one of the only fine arts-related scholarships in the area.

The scavenger hunt map is available at wentzvillemo.org and the city is encouraging those who participate in the hunt to post photos of the hydrants on social media using the hashtag #wentzvilleart.
