Missouri's new Governor, Mike Parson, kicked off his first official day on the job by reaching out to state officials and mayors.

Gov. Parson started his day with a Twitter post from the executive mansion saying, "I can't wait to get this day started."

Inside the capitol, the governor met with the 16 cabinet members from various state agencies and departments.

"Governor Greitens brought together a good team for the state of Missouri," Parson said, adding he plans to make no changes.

The new governor also said he's reaching out to the state's mayors including St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson.

"I think we want to find out and learn what she's facing as a new mayor in the City of St. Louis," Parson said.

A Krewson spokesman says the mayor wants to explore how the city and state can work together.

Gov. Parson also says he's thinking over a possible special session of the General Assembly to solve the vacancy in the Lt. Governor's post.

Currently, Missouri has no process in place to appoint a Lt. Governor.

"I don't like the state of Missouri being without a Lt. Governor," Parson said.
