ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A local television reporter is accused of assaulting police officers outside of Busch Stadium on May 31.
Nicholas Thompson appeared to be intoxicated when Busch Stadium employees ordered him to leave, according to police. Court records state that the 26-year-old refused to leave the stadium and cursed at employees, creating a disturbance in the area.
When the suspect left the stadium he remained on Cardinals’ property and yelled obscenities, officials said.
Thompson allegedly punched a uniformed officer who was working secondary at Busch Stadium when he tried to place him under arrest for trespassing. The officer said he was punched in the face.
Two other officers were also struck by the suspect while trying to assist in arresting Thompson, a probable cause statement said.
Thompson has been charged with three counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of resisting arrest.
Thompson, who works at KTVI, is not reporting or producing for the station while the incident is under review, according to the company.
