Meal programs providing free meals to kids throughout summer

ST. LOUIS, Mo.( KMOV.com)- Two summer meal programs for children will begin Monday, June 4.

Operation Food Search’s summer meal program will take place at six library branches in St. Louis City and nine in St. Louis County. This program will also scatter mobile meal vans throughout the region to help feed children during the summer. 

Officials from Operation Food Search said they aim to serve up to 100,000 free meals to youth in the St. Louis area ages 18 and younger.

In the Metro East, four Belleville churches will unite to provide free summer meals to children. Lunches will be available weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Douglas Elementary school and Citizens Park in Belleville.

The Metro East program will end July 27, while, Operation Food Search’s program will conclude at the end of the summer.
