CLAYTON (KMOV.com) -

A heads up for anyone who lives and works in Clayton!

Starting Monday, a section of Hanley Road from Carondelet to Forysth will be reduced to one lane in each direction. County officials say 19,000 cars travel that area on a daily basis and drivers should expect heavy congestion.

The St. Louis County Department of Transportation calls the lane restrictions 'severe' but nearby business owners are used to all the construction in town.

"Through the years, Clayton and people seem to adapt and find other ways through," said Richard Rutledge, owner of Clayton Car Wash. "But for three weeks will be a pain but summer time is slow in Clayton so maybe this is a fortunate time to do it."

The lane closure is expected to last up to a month.

During that time frame, Missouri American Water will install water lines to the Centene Corporation building.
