JENNINGS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A bi-state chase ended with two persons of interest in an armed robbery in custody early Friday morning.

The chase started in East St. Louis and involved over half a dozen different police departments. Officers said the suspects eventually crashed a stolen car into a grassy median at Jennings Station Road and Interstate 70, where they hopped out and attempted to run away.

Minutes later, News 4 cameras were rolling when the suspects were found and taken into police custody.

According to investigators, the suspects are persons of interest in two armed robberies in the Metro East earlier in the week. Officers said the same stolen car, a silver Ford Escape, was seen at the Circle K gas station in Belleville and the 7-Eleven at Granite City during the armed robberies.

Police said a second vehicle, a dark-colored Chevrolet Trailblazer that was used during the police pursuit, was taken in a carjacking at 14th and Chouteau Avenue just south of downtown St. Louis Thursday evening.

Police said the Trailblazer was taken from the same location that the vehicle believed to be used in the carjackings was taken from.

No weapons were found on the persons of interest or in the stolen car but police did find ammunition on one of the people.

The investigation is ongoing.
