JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Parson spent Thursday meeting and talking with cabinet members and lawmakers as he prepares to be Missouri’s next governor.

Sitting governor Eric Greitens announced Tuesday that he will step down on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

“We’ve reached out to all the cabinet members at this point and told them we plan to move forward with the cabinet in place and that’s what we’re doing,” said Parson.

Aides say it has been a busy two days of mapping out a transition.

“He’s working through a whole bunch of decisions and as I said yesterday, a nice open line of communication, we stand ready to help him any way we can,” said House Speaker Todd Richardson, R-Poplar Bluff.

Greitens is planning to move out of the governor’s mansion by Friday afternoon, a spokesman said the move mostly involves the offices of Greitens and the First Lady.

Greitens made four appointments to boards and commissions on Thursday. A spokesperson said he is reading over as many as 150 bills that are before him for his signature or veto.

Two events not open to the public will mark Parson's transition to governor: A prayer service at 4 p.m. and a swearing-in ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
